Yes, there are times where silence is needed. Say nothing.
There will come a time where you just have to say nothing. If you continue speaking, you might be making the situation worst.
Say something when it is needed or say nothing at all. Words carries lots of meaning and they might be mis-interpreted by the party which is listening.
But....
Silence is also a killer. Speak when it is necessarily and silent when it is unnecessarily.
